A Toddler's First Drawing Becomes a Figurine

A Red Scribble That Became Something More

When her son Yu turned 2, Mika T. from Tokyo watched him pick up a crayon for the very first time. "He grabbed the red one and just went around and around on the paper," she recalls with a smile. "He looked so serious and focused. When he was done, it was basically a few big red circles. But seeing that look of concentration on his face -- it was the sweetest thing."

Like many parents, Mika took a photo and tucked the original drawing into a folder. She figured that was the best she could do to preserve the memory.

Discovering figmee

A few weeks later, Mika spotted a friend's social media post showing their child's drawing turned into a 3D figurine.

"I thought it was adorable and wanted to try it with Yu's drawing. But honestly, I was worried. His drawing was just scribbles. Could the AI even do anything with it?"

She decided to give figmee a try. When the results appeared, she was genuinely surprised. Yu's red circles had been transformed into a round, cheerful 3D character with personality and charm.

"I actually gasped," she laughs. "It was so much cuter than I expected. It somehow captured the spirit of his drawing perfectly."

The Family's Reaction

Mika immediately shared the figurine image with her parents.

"My mom called right away, saying 'This is from Yu's drawing? That's incredible!' My dad, who's usually pretty reserved, kept looking at it and said, 'What an amazing time we live in.' It really touched them."

And Yu? He recognized himself as the artist right away. "He kept pointing at the screen saying 'Yu's! Yu's!' over and over. He was so proud."

A Monthly Growth Journal

That first figurine sparked an idea. Mika now creates a new figurine from Yu's drawings every month.

"At 2 years and 1 month, it was all circles. By 2 years and 3 months, he was making lots of lines. At two and a half, he drew something that actually looked like a face for the first time. When I line up the figurines in order, I can see his development so clearly. It's a growth record you just can't get from photos alone."

Mika's Tips for Other Parents

  • Transform drawings while the memory is fresh: "I upload each drawing to figmee the same day he creates it, so I remember exactly what was happening when he drew it"
  • Keep a date log: "I note the date alongside each figurine so I can track the timeline"
  • Share with family: "Grandparents absolutely love receiving these, especially if they live far away"

Mika's Message to Parents

"Your 2-year-old's scribbles might look like random circles and lines. But when you see them transformed into a figurine, those scribbles suddenly feel like real art. figmee gave us a way to celebrate Yu's very first creative steps, and I'd recommend it to any parent with a young child. Every scribble tells a story -- you just need to see it in 3D to believe it."
