Send Your Child's Festive Look as a Drawing and in 3D

You want grandparents who live far away to see your child dressed up for Shichi-Go-San. Sending photos through a messaging app is lovely, and if you also turn a drawing of the festive outfit into a figurine-style 3D model, you have one more gift they can watch turn around on screen.

Why Grandparents Enjoy a 3D Model

Something to enjoy on screen anytime

Photos on a phone are always welcome, but a figurine-style 3D model you can see from every angle has its own charm. Send it as a 360° video through a messaging app, and they can watch it spin on their phone or tablet anytime. If they'd like a physical piece to display, you can have it printed by an external 3D printing service (ordering physical 3D prints from Figmee is Coming Soon).

A conversation starter

"This is the Shichi-Go-San drawing our grandchild made": showing the drawing and the 3D model together gets the conversation going. If your child drew it, the story of how it was drawn can be shared, too.

Comparing growth over the years

Send a 3D model made from a drawing at each milestone, and they can enjoy comparing it with the previous one. "They were so small at three!" leads to plenty of reminiscing.

When to Give It

As a report after the shrine visit

After the shrine visit, draw your child's festive outfit while looking at the photos you took, and turn the drawing into a figurine-style 3D model to send. Photos themselves (photos of your real child) can't be turned into 3D, so what becomes 3D is the drawing. Send it along with the news that the celebration went well.

On Respect for the Aged Day

On Japan's Respect for the Aged Day in September, you could send one early, drawn from the photos of a pre-celebration photo shoot. It builds excitement for Shichi-Go-San in November.

When visiting for the New Year

When you visit family over the New Year holidays, surprise them by showing the 3D model on your phone or tablet. Bring the original drawing too, and everyone can compare them together.

Gift Ideas

  • With a message card — Add a handwritten message from your child
  • Together with photos — Shichi-Go-San photos, the original drawing, and the 3D model's 360° video as a set
  • For both sides — One for each set of grandparents

How to Make the 3D Model with Figmee

  1. Draw the festive outfit — Your child or anyone in the family can draw. Drawing while looking at photos is fine
  2. Upload to Figmee — PNG, JPEG, or WebP, up to 20 MB per image. Photograph paper drawings from directly above, or scan them
  3. Make a 3D model from the figurine-style image (3D image) — The image usually takes 2–3 minutes, and the 3D model a few minutes
  4. Send it as a 360° video — Export a video that spins twice in about six seconds (in Chrome or Edge on a computer, or Chrome on Android)

If an image is judged to be a photo, generation stops and the tokens you used are returned automatically.

Bridge the Distance with a Drawing and 3D

The best gift for grandparents is news of their grandchild's growth. Turn a drawing of the festive outfit into a figurine-style 3D model with Figmee, and you can share that look on screen, however far apart you are. This Shichi-Go-San, surprise the grandparents with a drawing and 3D.
