Look Back on Growth at 3, 5, and 7 with Drawings and 3D

Shichi-Go-San is generally celebrated by boys at ages 3 and 5 and by girls at ages 3 and 7 (customs vary by region and family). Draw your child in their festive outfit at each milestone and turn the drawing into a figurine-style 3D model, and you'll build a collection that traces how your child has grown.

Drawings and 3D at Each Age

Around age 3

  • A round, innocent face
  • A slightly nervous look in their first festive outfit
  • At this age, having a family member draw works well too

Around age 5

  • The face of a proud big brother or big sister
  • Wearing a hakama or kimono with confidence
  • An age when your child can try drawing themselves

Around age 7

  • A more grown-up expression
  • The festive outfit drawn down to the obi and kimono patterns
  • If your child draws it, you can see how their drawing has improved since the last Shichi-Go-San

Line Them Up

Line up the 3D models from each milestone and the path of growth comes into view. Besides changes in the drawn height and expressions, drawings by your child also show how their drawing has improved, which you can enjoy side by side with the original drawings.

Display ideas

  • Timeline — Compare the original drawings and 3D models in age order
  • 360° view — Spin the 3D models and compare them from different angles
  • With photos — Look back at each age's photos alongside the original drawings

How to Start Your Collection

Once the first one is done, the next milestone becomes something to look forward to. "Let's draw you again and make it 3D at the next Shichi-Go-San!" makes for a fun conversation with your child.

Start today

  • You can also make a figurine-style 3D model from a drawing made while looking at past Shichi-Go-San photos
  • Photos themselves (photos of your real child) can't be turned into 3D. If an image is judged to be a photo, generation stops and the tokens you used are returned automatically
  • If you don't have photos from back then, drawing from photos taken around that time or from family memories is fine. What matters is capturing "your child at that stage"

Collect the Milestones in Drawings and 3D

Shichi-Go-San is a special milestone celebrating your child's growth. Draw the festive outfit at each milestone and turn the drawing into a figurine-style 3D model with Figmee, and you can collect those moments of growth in drawings and 3D.
