Chitose-Ame: Keep the Shichi-Go-San Symbol in Photos and in a Drawing
Chitose-ame, the long red-and-white candy sticks, are the symbol of Shichi-Go-San, and a child holding them is a sight unique to the celebration. This guide first covers how to photograph that moment well, then how to draw your child from the photo and turn the drawing into a figurine-style 3D model. Photos go in the album; the drawing becomes 3D.
Photography Tips for the Chitose-Ame Moment
Posing ideas
- Holding the candy carefully in both hands
- Carrying the candy bag over one shoulder
- Playfully bringing the candy up to the mouth
Light and composition
- Shoot in a bright spot with natural light
- Keep the background simple so the red and white stand out
- Take a few full-body shots too, as a reference for drawing later
Camera settings
- Use portrait mode to blur the background
- Use burst mode so you don't miss a fleeting expression
- In darker places, raise the brightness a little
Draw from Your Photo, Then Turn It into a Figurine-Style 3D Model
What Figmee turns into 3D is a drawing. Photos of your child as they are can't be used: if an image is judged to be a photo, generation stops (the tokens you used are returned automatically). So draw your child holding the chitose-ame while looking at your photo, and upload that drawing to Figmee. Your child can draw it, or someone else in the family can.
How to draw so it converts well to 3D
- Full body, facing roughly forward — Drawing all the way to the feet helps the 3D shape come out cleanly
- Make the candy and the bag clear — Draw the red-and-white stripes and the bag's pattern with bold lines and colors
- Leave out the background — Drawing only your child on white paper makes the subject easy to read
- Photograph paper drawings from directly above, in good light — Scans work too. PNG, JPEG, or WebP, up to 20 MB per image
Your uploaded drawing first becomes a figurine-style image (3D image), usually in 2–3 minutes, and from there you can make a 3D model in a few minutes. You can save the 3D model data (GLB / 3MF); ordering a physical 3D print is Coming Soon.
Enjoying Your Chitose-Ame 3D Model
You can line up the figurine-style 3D model next to the original drawing in your Figmee gallery, or export a 360° video that spins twice in about six seconds and send it to family. Seen next to the photo album, it becomes a record of how you drew that day.
Two Ways to Keep the Day
Chitose-ame carries a wish for a long life, as its name ("thousand-year candy") suggests. Keep the festive moment in photos, and turn a drawing made from those photos into a figurine-style 3D model with Figmee, and you'll have the Shichi-Go-San day in two forms.
