Worried that 3D will erase the charm of your lines and make your art look AI-made? There are concrete reasons. Learn where lines live in a 3D model and how to keep the hand-drawn feel.
Claims that illustrations can't be turned into 3D still linger. In reality some things work and some don't, for technical reasons. We explain what AI struggles with, without exaggeration.
Redoing a sofubi master after you start carving is costly. Generate a 3D model from a sketch, check the proportions first, then sculpt, with sofubi's specific constraints in mind.
A beginner glossary of 50 core 3D modeling terms in six groups: shape, surface, motion, files, techniques and tools. Mesh, normals, UV unwrapping, PBR, rigging, GLB, STL, 3MF and more.
A plain-language guide to image-to-3D AI: how it infers shape and color from a single drawing or photo to generate 3D data, what it does well and poorly, and how to prepare input for clean results.
3D model copyright made simple: a model from your own original illustration is generally your work; one based on another's character generally needs permission. Cases, AI, and a pre-release checklist.
Rigging adds a skeleton of bones to a 3D model so it can move. Learn about bones, skinning and weights, when rigging is needed, the basic Blender workflow and auto-rigging with Mixamo.
Polygon count is the number of faces (mostly triangles) that make up a 3D model. More means finer detail and heavier data. Learn targets by use, how to count in Blender, and 3D printing tips.
A texture is an image applied to a 3D model's surface. Learn how it sets color and surface feel, how it relates to materials and UVs, the main types, why it blurs, and how to try it yourself.
A 3D model is data that represents an object's shape in three dimensions on a computer. Learn how meshes and textures work, the main types and uses, and how to make one.
How to print a 3MF file on a 3D printer: loading it into a slicer, the basics of layer height, infill and supports, and the common pitfalls to avoid.
An overview of four routes for editing and using AI-generated 3D models (GLB / 3MF): refining in Blender, game engines, 3D print data and video. Pick your next step, even as a 3D beginner.
